Welcome to BOOM, Charlotte’s artist-led performance and visual arts showcase of contemporary and experimental works created on the fringes of popular culture.
The three-day arts experience is a movement that believes in the explosive power of art to unite and strengthen our community. It believes art is transformational and can bridge traditional divides.
BOOM’s mission is simple: to spark creativity and collaboration among a diverse group of artists, performers, and audiences. To achieve that mission we convene artists, volunteers, nonprofits, businesses and neighborhood organizations to form a unique coalition working to transform the way arts and culture are created and shared in Charlotte.
What we do
BOOM is Charlotte's largest, wildest, and most diverse arts festival. Each year we take to the streets of Plaza-Midwood, building stages and opening the doors of bars, restaurants, and cafes to the entire arts ecosystem of Charlotte.
BOOM Fringe features the edgy, the experimental, and the experiential groundbreaking works of local and national artists. All works are original fringe-worthy pieces created by the presenting artists.
BOOM Intersection is the outdoor space in which art, culture and community collide. Some of Charlotte’s best performance arts organizations curate this outdoor stage with live music and performance art that is free and open to the public.
BOOM is open and inclusive. We intentionally seek out diversity in race, gender, age, background and styles to present a broad range of performances and inspire as many people as possible.

The Vision
A three-day event for attendees and artists to share an out-of-body arts experience
This includes musical performances, theatrical shows, poetry, dance, interactive installations, communal creation, and more. All ages, ethnicities, orientations and abilities take part in this together, strengthening community bonds through support of the arts. We keep entrance accessible to all by offering much of the festival for FREE and ticketed event are only $10, with discounts when you buy a 5 Show or Weekend Pass. We know that access to art and culture is fundamental right for all, not a privilege for a few, but in order to offer such amazing work to so many we need your help.
